Too weird. Too slow. what can you say that's not already been said. Great film - but you need to persevere. First watch can seem a little dull. repeated viewings bring out the more subtle themes - such as the slow dehumnanising of man as he evolves, etc. Poetic. Wondrous. Visually engrossing.
You can fall asleep rather easily if you've just eaten a large dinner, though.
Thankfully, there's an intermission. If space is like this, I want to be there, except without the whole we-are-the-architects-of-our-own-demise thing. the proverbial good science fiction film.
Made before the first moon landing, it is still the best science fiction movie of all time. |
